This modern San Francisco home needed a refined and elegant staircase to open up the dark corners of this multi-level home. ln order to achieve this, we constructed the staircase with a minimal amount of visible hardware or connections for an overall simple and polished look which allowed for the maximum amount of open surface area on the glass treads. The laminated glass is translucent, but not transparent, and as a result, the open air beneath your feet adds a feeling of excitement as you descend the stairs, which reveals an unobstructed view of the stories below. Completing this project was an exercise in precise sequencing and planning, which ultimately produced a polished and clean stairway that elegantly diffused light throughout the house.
